Episode 04 barely scratches the surface of the complex beast known as compression. Basically this episode exists to dispell the myth that many beginning engineers seem to assume — that compression is just used as a gain booster. Listen! And you shall be learn’ed’d'ed’d.
So you heard the episode but need a compressor? Kjaerhus Audio provides a free VST called Classic Compressor that can get the job done.

Episode 03 is an almost useless demonstration of how to improve the sound of orchestral strings samples. WHAT? Reverb you say??? Surely you jest. But I do not. Oh, and if you need a reverb VST, get Classic Reverb for free from the generous folks at Kjaerhus Audio. It’s not the best but it certainly gets the job done (and it’s what I used in this episode).

Episode 02 is a very brief primer on how to make your synth lead sound more dynamic. Honestly, it lacks any real meat but can guide newbies in the right direction by giving an example of how basic effects can affect (hehe) your sound.
Curious about the song at the end? It was my entry in Dwelling of Duels for the November ‘06 contest.
